Wild Food Thanksgiving
Sunday, November 13th at Wilder Waters Community in Canton, Maine, is the 15th annual Wild Food Thanksgiving from 12:00PM to 4:00PM (the end time is very open). Anyone who is coming with goodwill toward the people and the land upon which we depend is welcome to attend.
This is a potluck event where we all share food that we value with others in attendance. Bring dishes that include wild food (the more wild food, the better), including meals, breads, soups, snacks, drinks, and deserts. If you don’t have access to wild food, you are still welcome—try to bring local, organic food instead. Labeling food as to location, ingredients, etc. is useful so folks know what is found in each dish.
It is also useful to let me know what you intend to bring (use my email or the contact button at the top right of this page) so we don’t duplicate too many items.
This is an event where we celebrate our relationship to wild food with friends and family and loved ones. Children are welcome! There is no fee to attend this event accept (1) your gratitude to the remaining wild places (both large and small) left on this planet and (2) the recognition that gifts (including food shared with others) should not be easy to give (i.e., the best gifts are those with such time and effort put into them that it is hard to give them up, indicating how much you value the item given).
We look forward to seeing all the old friends and the new faces. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
